Applying for Undergraduate Admission to The University of Nebraska at Omaha

Transfer Students

  • Complete the Undergraduate Application for Admission and submit your non-refundable $45.00 application fee. Your application will not be processed until the fee is paid. Applicants who pay the $45.00 application fee, who do not enroll within one year, must reapply for admission and resubmit the application fee.

  • Official college transcript(s) must be sent directly to the UNO Office of Undergraduate Admissions from the Registrar's Office of each previous college or university attended whether credit was earned or not. Hand-carried or student-submitted transcripts are not acceptable. If you are currently enrolled in college courses, please request that a final official transcript be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as soon as possible after you have completed your coursework. A Transcript Request Form may be completed for this purpose. If the records are not in English, an official translation must be provided by the student.

  • An official high school transcript is required for all transfer students to review the high school academic record and for verification of Nebraska residency for tuition purposes (applicable to Nebraska high school graduates).

  • All previous college work attempted must be reported on the application for admission whether credit was earned or not. Failure to provide information regarding all post-secondary academic work attempted/completed will be considered fraudulent and result in possible withdrawal of admission or dismissal from the University.

  • Many UNO colleges have a minimum GPA requirement of 2.00 or above as well as additional requirements. Please check the GPA section in the undergraduate application or the undergraduate catalog for minimum GPA requirements. If you do not meet the minimum GPA requirement for your desired program, select a college/major program for which you are eligible to avoid delays in your admission.

  • Students provisionally admitted pending the receipt of all final official transcripts required for admission must certify they will meet the minimum admission criteria for the college/major to which they are admitted. The applicant's submission of the Undergraduate Application for Admission certifies that, to the best of their knowledge, they meet the minimum admission requirement for the college/major for which they have applied. After all transfer credits are received and evaluated, if a student does not meet the minimum required grade point average for the college/major to which they applied/enrolled, their program of study will be changed by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

  • Any student who has been placed on academic suspension or dismissal from any college or university within the last year, regardless of the student's eligibility to return to the prior institution, will be denied admission. The student would be eligible to reapply for admission to UNO after one full year following the end of the last term in which the student was suspended.

  • If you have previously attended or are currently attending UNK, UNL or UNMC, please refer to the University of Nebraska System sections.

  • Students presenting fewer than 12 semester hours of transferable coursework from a regionally accredited collegiate institution following high school graduation will be required to meet the freshman admission requirements for assured admission or under any ABR category that applies. An official high school transcript and ACT or SAT results are required. A transfer student who has successfully completed 12 or more transferable semester hours from a regionally accredited collegiate institution following high school graduation who is in good standing at their previous institution(s) will be expected to have met the freshman core course requirements, either in high school or in their previous post secondary studies, unless exempted per individual review. Those who do not fully meet these requirements may still qualify for admission on the basis of special merit. The Admissions Office will determine how deficiencies in the prior record of these students will be made up. All applicants must meet the admissions requirements as set by the college to which they apply.

  • Transfer credits are initially screened by the Undergradute Admissions Office. As soon as you have been officially admitted, your transfer records are forwarded to the dean of your college. Usually those credits earned with a grade of "C-" or better from a regionally accredited institution may be applied toward a baccalaureate degree. Credit applicable for one major may not necessarily apply toward another major. The responsibility for determining the manner in which transfer credit is applied toward degree requirements rests with each College.

  • Transfer Guides for UNO are available for courses taken within the University of Nebraska System, or those taken at Nebraska community colleges and Iowa Western Community College. These guides provide general information regarding classes that may transfer, course equivalents and how they may apply toward a particular UNO degree.

  • Transfer students must be graduates of a regionally accredited high school or have completed the equivalent academic training (GED).

  • Please have all credentials sent directly to:
University of Nebraska at Omaha
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
6001 Dodge Street, EAB 103
Omaha, Nebraska 68182-0286
Hand-carried / student-submitted credentials are not acceptable.

Transcripts sent to the UNO Office of Undergraduate Admissions for students who do not enroll will be retained for one year. If the student applies for admission beyond that, new transcripts would need to be provided for admission consideration.
