Boys & Girls Clubs of Omaha

Boys & Girls Clubs of Omaha (www.bgcomaha.org)

 

Boys & Girls Clubs of Omaha are programs and services designed to help build character in boys and girls.  They offer services to boys and girls ranging from building leadership skills to sports and recreation.  This community based after school program creates an environment to help the girls and boys reach their highest potential.  Students will go to either the North Omaha or South Omaha site to help out.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Omaha needs assistance with:

            * sorting and organizing items

            * sprucing up play areas for kids

Hope Center for Kids

The Hope Center for Kids provides not only the basic daily things but also programs, education and community resources to kids.  They give kids things from a hot meal to just a safe place to go after school.   The Hope Center is here for the urban kids, giving them the "hope" they need.
 

The Hope Center has several projects for which they need help:

            * sorting and organizing materials and equipment

            * spruce up the inside and outside of the facility

 

Omaha Children's Museum

Omaha Children's Museum is where children can discover and learn new things about the world through play.  There are several ways children are able to use their imaginations through different exhibits, group activities, and other programs.
 

Omaha Children's Museum will need help with:

            * assist with materials and supplies in preparation with the                           dinosaur exhibit

            * cleaning up around the building, inside and out

            * organizing things in the museum

Henry Doorly Zoo

The Henry Doorly Zoo is home to many facilities and exhibits to not only preserve many different species, but also to share them with the public.  They do this through conservation, research, recreation, and education.  The zoo provides many opportunities to enhance the visitors’ knowledge of many areas in the world.  The facility is exemplary to zoos around the country and even the world.       

 

            Henry Doorly Zoo will need help with:

            *cleaning up different areas of the zoo

            *organizing & compiling educational materials

The Viking Ship

The Viking Ship (no website available)

 

The Viking Ship is located in North Omaha at 2582 Redick Avenue.  It is a community center that provides space and programming for all ages.  It is located around Miller Park.  This includes programs such as boxing club, cheerleading club, swimming pool programming.  The community center is rented often for several community events.

 

The Viking Ship is in need of assistance with:

*yard and park clean up

*indoor cleaning and repair

Campfire USA

Campfire USA (www.campfireomaha.org)

 

Campfire USA focuses on the needs of the whole child.  They offer many programs to students at times when they may normally be alone (after school, summer, etc.).  Campfire USA works to build confident youth and future leaders. 

 

Campfire USA is in need of help at their new building with the following:

            *preparing lunch bags

            *packaging school supplies

            *unpacking and organizing in the new building
