FAQ’s

Do I have to attend Orientation?
We believe that Orientation is essential in assisting new students with their transition to college and to UNO. Because of this, all freshmen and freshman transfers with 24 or fewer college credit courses are required to participate in New Student Orientation.

What if I’m a transfer student?
Transfer students with more than 24 transferable hours should plan to attend an Express Orientation for transfer students.

As a transfer student you may assume that programs and services at UNO are similar to those provided at your previous school. In reality, every university is different and our programming is designed to help you make a successful transition to UNO. Orientation provides an opportunity to meet with other new students, become familiar with campus and available services and resources, meet in a small group with Orientation leaders, and learn about student life at UNO.

If you are not able to attend Express Orientation, please contact our office at 402-554-2677 to discuss options.

When should I register for an Orientation date?
Sign up and attend an Orientation as soon as possible. Our sessions fill up quickly so don’t delay in registering. All new students at UNO have an Orientation hold on their records, preventing them from registering for classes before attending Orientation.

Beginning March 19, you may sign up for Orientation on our website.

Do I have to stay for the whole program?
Yes, it is required that you stay for the entire program. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late or need to leave early, you will be asked to reschedule.

Should my parents come with me to Orientation?
Orientation is designed for students only. Parents or friends who come with you will be asked to return after the conclusion of the program.

Parents, partners, or other guests will have opportunities during the summer to attend a special orientations designed for significant others, such as supporting loved ones and understanding changes that will occur.

What if I don’t know my PIN?
Once you have been accepted to the University, your Personal Identification Number (PIN) should have been mailed to you. For additional information or to find out how to get your PIN, please review the Records and Registration website at http://www.ses.unomaha.edu/registrar/pin.php
