The MAT is a high-level mental ability test requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies. It is used widely as
a component of the admissions process in graduate programs.
The computer-based MAT is administered by appointment at the UNO Testing Center, Eppley Administration Bldg. Room 113.
Advance scheduling by phone (402/554-4800) or at the Testing Center is required. The MAT is a 60-minute exam. Examinees
should be prepared to stay approximately an hour and a half to allow for check-in, administration, and check-out.
Examinees must present two pieces of identification to test. One must be a photo ID. A $75 fee (subject to change) is
charged for the exam (credit cards not accepted). Registration is limited. Lockers are provided for personal items.
Examinees who retake the MAT cannot take the same form of the test more than once in a 12-month period. It is the
examinee's responsibility to inform the Testing Center if he or she has taken the MAT within the past 12 months and to
bring a valid retest admission ticket when reporting for the exam. The PsychCorp (test company) provides each examinee
with a retest admission ticket with each new score report. Examinees who have misplaced their ticket can contact the
PsychCorp at 1-800-622-3231. Invalid retests will be voided and not reported. The UNO Testing Center assumes no
responsibility for testing costs incurred for invalid testing if the examinee has not provided the required information.
Complete details regarding the MAT and ID requirements are contained in the MAT Candidate Information Bulletin which is
available at the Testing Center and online via: www.milleranalogies.com.
Examinees are expected to abide by the University's policy on Academic Integrity. Failure to do so may result in one or
more of the following: cancellation of test results; being declared ineligible for admission to UNO; and/or expulsion of
current students from the insititution.
The UNO Institutional TOEFL is open to persons currently participating in the University's Intensive Language Program (ILUNO) or other UNO-affiliated programs. No test transcript service is available. Other candidates should register for the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT). Registration for the Institutional TOEFL is at International Studies, ASH, Room 241, UNO.
